Nate is the rare combination of a naturally talented singer and a highly-refined musician. He understands the technical nuts and bolts but also knows what’s emotionally compelling for singers and audiences.

Tracking Nate’s arrangement was an experience in “I see what you did there.”. Everything just made sense, and the music was nothing less than awesome.

- Nick Lyons @ www.thevocalcompany.com

Nate has done several arrangements for Eleventh Hour and they are fantastic! He is great to work with, creative, professional, caring and affordable. Who could ask for anything more?

  - Brody McDonald - Director, Eleventh Hour

We’ve brought Nate to SoJam as a performer and clinician on multiple occasions, and with good reason: he brings with him a one of a kind blend of musicality, artistry, and bad-assery. Hire him.

The NCSU Ladies in Red had the opportunity to work with Nate as a clinician at SOJAM 2008 in Raleigh, NC.  Nate had arranged Duffy’s “Stepping Stone” for the Ladies. Nate worked on the performance aspect and delivering the emotion of the song with us. He instructed the group to do some subtle things with dynamics and tone to create a certain mood; he also helped us play around with different syllables and effects in the background voices like adding breathiness to some lines for a sexier, sultry sound. Seeing Nate perform “Can’t Stop Thinking About You” later that weekend really tied our work with him together since he performs that song with so much emotion in his voice and face; it tied everything together and was an example of the right way genuinely  make an audience feel the emotion of a song.
Additionally, Nate arranged Duffy’s “Stepping Stone” for the Ladies.  Nate’s arrangement was an excellent combination of his own interpretation of the song and arranging for the Ladies’ sound and voices. He took the light simple jazzy lines from each instrument on the track and turned it into layered harmonies for our voices that naturally moved and swelled at the right points with the lyrics. It’s hard to find something that a group of 10 girls agrees on, but this was one of all the Ladies’ favorite songs to perform and record. On a more selfish note, thanks to Nate my solo song on our album was awesome, money well spent.

If you want top-notch arrangements for your contemporary a cappella group, this is the guy.
I’m a high school choral teacher and have had the opportunity to watch Nathan Altimari run engaging workshops on arranging, vocal percussion, and performance with his professional a cappella group Firedrill!, and he’s our favorite hired hand when it comes to purchasing custom arrangements.  HIGHLY recommended!
